Change In Politics#1
With the new Congress coming into power shortly, what types of new legislation would you like to see happen? I know you can think of a ton of things you would personally like to see, but what are your main ones that would benefit a lot of people?
Here is my first thing that I would like to see happen with the new government in power.
There are many things I wish the new Congress can accomplish whether it’s in the House or the Senate. Too much power has been given to the federal government, even though Republicans believe in a smaller government. The first thing I would like to see is a diminished selection of power of the federal government and an increase in state and local power. The federal government lost its head with the Iraq war and tried to pass some “safety” legislation that takes away our individual privacy rights. They argued that it was for the overall safety of our country, but they could have handled it in a different manner. Don’t get me wrong, I want our borders as safe as possible, but I think we can accomplish that by not invading in our citizen lives.
What do you think??

I couldn’t agree more. I call myself a Republican, but am not in favor of what the last administration has done. They look away individual freedoms in the name of security. They started a war against “terror”, a clearly undefinable enemy. The created a new branch of the goverment, Homeland Security. I do not usually agree with Democrats, I am an eager to see change.
While I’d also like to have smaller gov’t, I’d say fat chance on your wish. The Dems typically want to do everything they can to expand the reach and influence of gov’t as it expands their reach and influence. I can only imagine that the size of the gov’t will get larger under the Democratic leadership in Congress.
My main wish would be for the income tax to be replaced with the Fair Tax. However, I doubt the Democrats will be in a rush to initiate the largest transfer of power ever from the gov’t back to the people.
